ABBA will feature in a dedicated version of Sony's karaoke computer game “SingStar,” to be released in time for the holiday season.

"SingStar ABBA" -- the first edition of the game dedicated to a single artist -- is slated for release just before Christmas, with an exact release date to be confirmed. It will be exclusively available on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 systems until December 2009.

The game will feature a collection of the Swedish band's most-loved hits, including "Gimme Gimme Gimme," "Waterloo," "Dancing Queen" and the title track for one of this summer's most popular cinema releases, "Mamma Mia."

Global sales of the movie's soundtrack have almost reached three million, according to Universal, while renewed interest in the band's "Gold -- Greatest Hits" (Polydor) collection recently sent it back to the top of the U.K. chart for the fifth time since its release in 1992. That title alone has now sold over 26 million copies worldwide, according to Universal.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with ABBA to bring their tracks to SingStar this Christmas," said David Reeves, president, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. "The popularity of this iconic band continues year after year, and we know SingStar fans will be delighted to add this selection of classic tracks to their collection."

"ABBA have joined that elite club of musicians and artists whose popularity only grows with time, as new generations enjoy some of the most memorable music ever made," said Lucian Grainge, Chairman/CEO of Universal Music Group International, in a statement. "'SingStar ABBA' will have the world singing along again."
