New rock festival Sonisphere has launched a deposit scheme for its U.K. event at Knebworth on Aug. 1 and 2.

Metallica and Linkin Park will headline the 60,000-capacity festival.

Organizers said they were inspired by the success of the Glastonbury festival and Bestival deposit schemes, recently profiled in Billboard (March 21).

The scheme allows fans to secure a ticket with a non-refundable deposit of £40 ($57.23), with the balance due by June 30. Full price weekend tickets range from £132.50 ($189.59) to £157.50 ($225.36). A spokesman says tickets have been selling well.

The festival has been launched by Stuart Galbraith, series producer and director and CEO of Kilimanjaro Live, and John Jackson, festival creator and director and Metallica's booking agent at K2 since 1985. AEG, which backs Kilimanjaro, is also supporting the new festival.
