Berlin-based DEAG Music managing director Andre Selleneit has been appointed senior VP of the Sony Music Entertainment-owned German language label Ariola G/S/A (Germany, Switzerland, Austria).

Reporting to Sony Music Entertainment G/S/A SVP domestic, Willy Ehmann, Selleneit begins his new Munich-based job in Spring 2010. He replaces Jorg Hellwig, who has decided to leave the company.

“Andre Selleneit is one of the most successful German label managers and an exceptional A&R manager,” said Sony Music Entertainment G/S/A CEO Edgar Berger in a statement.

Ehmann called Selleneit “the ideal person for this important position,” adding: “I am certain that together we will successfully work for the label and its artists.”

Prior to joining DEAG, Selleneit was managing director at BMG Berlin managing director, where he helped guide the careers of German artists Modern Talking, Yvonne Catterfeld and Dieter Bohlen, among others. In 2005, he joined DEAG where he helped develop the career of successful violinist David Garrett.

Selleneit remains a partner in DEAG Music, the multi-faceted music division of concert promoter Deutsche Entertainment AG. His successor as DEAG Music managing director is Bjorn Teske, former A&R director of Sony's Columbia label in Munich.
