European B2B digital distribution provider 24-7 Entertainment has announced that download volumes reached 150 million tracks in 2009.

According to a statement issued by the company, which has offices in the U.K., Germany, Spain and Denmark, it serviced a total of 150 million music tracks across 45 music download stores in 16 countries in 2009 - a 40% increase on 2008's figures.

24-7 attributes a substantial part of its total volume to subscription services such as Denmark's unlimited music service TDC Play, although also claims to have experienced a 32% year-on-year rise in the number of pay-per-downloads sold.

"We are very encouraged to see that overall, digital music distribution continues to produce strong growth rates despite relatively few new services being launched," said Frank Taubert, 24-7 Entertainment CEO and co-founder, in a statement.
