European streaming service Spotify has launched on TV in Sweden and Finland via telco TeliaSonera's digital television services.

Spotify is making the music app available to TeliaSonera's digital TV customers who subscribe to the Spotify premium service. TeliaSonera has 120,000 TV customers in total. Viewers can access a streamlined version of Spotify with the TV remote.

"Introducing Spotify into the living room is a major step forward in our continued efforts to make Spotify available wherever you are", said Daniel Ek, CEO and founder of Spotify, in a statement.

Stefan Trampus, manager broadband services at TeliaSonera, added: "Everybody loves music and even though many of us carry our favorite music with us, a lot of music consumption remains in the home. We believe that giving music fans the ability access Spotify directly through the TV and into the living room will attract even more users to the world's hottest music service."

TeliaSonera signed a deal with Spotify in October 2009 to become the exclusive operator in Sweden to sell, market and assist in the development of Spotify.
