U.K. trade group the Music Producers' Guild has launched a campaign that is aiming to establish an official, unified database of credit information relating to music production, performances and mastering.

According to its own survey, 98% of record producers would support such a database for digital music, and believe these credits should be incorporated as metadata and accessible to listeners of all future digital mediums.

While physical releases include such details on sleeve notes, the MPG said there is no information relating to the recording, musicians, equipment, publishing or acknowledgements on any legitimate MP3.
