AEG Live has shuttered its Middle East office in Dubai. It will now partner with local event management company and promoter Done Events, part of Arab Media Group (AMG).

In a change to AEG's strategy in the region, AEG Middle East managing director Thomas Ovesen and his team will be joining Done Events.

AEG will no longer maintain a permanent AEG office in the region. Instead, it will partner with Done Events on shows in the Middle East.

Done Events is expanding in the region and AEG decided that its artist tours could reach the Middle East without the need for a dedicated AEG operation in Dubai. A spokesman for AEG Live tells the partnership with Done Events could potentially increase the number of AEG-backed shows in the region.

The AEG team has produced live events in the Middle East with artists including Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue, Iron Maiden, Backstreet Boys, Keane, Rod Stewart and Spandau Ballet for the past two and a half years.

The six AEG staff members will transfer to Done Events with Ovesen taking the position of director.

"AEG Live is delighted to be building on its successes to date in the Middle East in a strong new partnership with Done Events," said Rob Hallett, president, international touring at AEG Live, in a statement.

Mohamed AlMulla, CEO of Arab Media Group, added: "Everyone knows what a force AEG Middle East has been, so it's the perfect outcome for us to associate with AEG Live and to add their team to our existing group of industry professionals. Synergies with other Arab Media Group subsidiaries like Arabian Radio Network (ARN) and ticketing arm 'Box Office' will strengthen our offering."

"The addition of talent management and live concerts to the strong corporate event management portfolio will provide full service event solutions to the market," said Vikas Jain, COO of Done Events.

"AEG Live touring talent will have access to an excellent events team in the region," added Thomas Ovesen. "Done Events is expanding to include a fully-fledged live concert operation. It makes sense for us to merge our unique expertise in this market, making Done Events the market leader. It is a perfect partnership."

Ovesen made his name in the Middle East 10 years ago with Mirage Promotions.

Arab Media Group is a leading media and entertainment organization in the UAE, with subsidiaries covering radio broadcasting, ticketing, event management and direct marketing. Done Events, a subsidiary of AMG, was established in 2005 and has managed large-scale corporate events in the region as well as selected concerts and musicals in Dubai.

There has been no financial acquisition of the AEG operation in Dubai.
