Jeff Toig Out at Muve Music (Exclusive)

Jeff Toig, the Senior Vice President in charge of Cricket Wireless's Muve Music subscription service, has left the company. The prepaid mobile carrier bundles the first-of-its kind music service with its all-you-can text, voice and data plans.
Tyler Wallis, Senior Vice President - Product and Marketing at Cricket Wireless, has taken over Toig's leadership position at Muve Music, a Cricket spokesperson tells Billboard. The reason for Toig's departure is unknown. The Cricket spokesperson said Toig "resigned" his position.

Since its launch in early 2011, Muve Music has grown to nearly 1.7 million subscribers -- the most in the country -- and become a large and growing digital revenue source for rights holders. Toig did not respond to Billboard's request for comment.

AT&T Buys Leap Wireless, Owner of Muve Music, For $1.19 Billion

Muve Music is growing beyond the United States. In March, Brazilian mobile carrier TIM launched a Muve-powered music service. TIM, Brazil's second-largest mobile carrier, offers TIMmusic in both prepaid and postpaid mobile plans.
Muve Music will soon become part of the AT&T after the mobile giant's acquisition of Cricket owner Leap Wireless is approved by the FCC. A Cricket spokesperson previously told Billboard  "[i]t's business as usual for Cricket and Muve until the deal closes."
