Faith No More launches at No. 1 on Billboard's Hard Rock Albums chart, as Sol Invictus starts with 31,000 sold, according to Nielsen Music. The title also starts at No. 2 on Top Rock Albums and No. 15 on the Billboard 200.
It had been nearly 18 years since the innovative alt-metal band released its previous studio album: 1997's Album of the Year, which debuted and peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard 200, after which the band broke up. Its new reunion set and seventh studio album marks its highest rank on the chart since 1992's Angel Dust reached No. 10, the band's best showing.
Faith No More scored its biggest hit, and lone top 10, on the Billboard Hot 100 with 1990's No. 9-peaking "Epic."Special 'Effect': Below Faith No More on Top Rock Albums, Brandon Flowers, lead vocalist of The Killers, debuts at No. 3 with The Desired Effect (29,000 sold). The set starts at No. 17 on the Billboard 200. Flowers' first solo album, Flamingo, opened at No. 4 on Top Rock Albums and No. 8 on the Billboard 200 with 41,000 first-week albums sold in 2010. The Killers have collected four top 10s on the Billboard 200, including their most recent studio set, 2012's Battle Born (No. 3).
'Crystal' Shines: Of Monsters and Men notch their third leader on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, as "Crystals" rises 2-1. The Icelandic folk-pop band previously led with their first two entries, "Little Talks" in 2012 and "Mountain Sound" in 2013. The band's sophomore album, Beneath the Skin, is due June 9.
