Direct James Gunn scoured Hot 100 charts to create this Marvel movie soundtrack

Guardians of the Galaxy, which opened Aug. 1, features a tree-like creature named Groot, a talking raccoon and a device just as alien to children of the digital age: a Sony Walkman containing a mixtape of 12 hits from the 1970s, including 10cc's "I'm Not in Love," Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)," The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb" and David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream." The portable ­cassette player belongs to Guardians character Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord (played by Parks & Recreation actor Chris Pratt).
