Richard Nichols, who managed and produced The Roots for two decades, died in his native Philadelphia after a long battle with leukemia. He was 55. "He wasn't just a manager: He was our Peter Grant, our George Martin, our Malcolm McLaren," says Roots drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson. "He was our brain trust, the adhesive that kept us together all this time."
