Brands eager to team with Monae.

Most artists are lucky to have one dedicated brand partner when launching a new album. Janelle Monáe had four.

Coinciding with the promotion for her second album, "The Electric Lady," Monáe first teamed with American Express for a live concert during designer Rebecca Minkoff's spring 2014 runway show during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 6. The concert was live-streamed as part of American Express' concert series "Unstaged," and was the program's first installment to combine fashion and music.
