Virgin U.K. imprint Hut Recordings has ceased to operate as a stand-alone unit and has been folded into its parent company.

The seven staffers at the label are in talks with the company about possible future roles. They were informed of the situation March 31, the day Virgin parent EMI Group announced its worldwide restructuring.

An EMI Music U.K. spokeswoman says no artists are leaving the company. Hut's roster -- which includes Placebo, Gomez, Richard Ashcroft and the Music -- will be reassigned to Virgin.

Hut managing director Dave Boyd has stepped down and will continue on a consultancy basis, working with Ashcroft.
