Event opens three-day Entertainment Media Expo.
Film critic Leonard Maltin will host the DVD Entertainment Awards, to be held Aug. 30 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. The awards ceremony is the opening-night event for the Entertainment Media Expo (EMX), which ends Sept. 1.
Maltin is in his 21st season with television's "Entertainment Tonight" and co-hosts the weekend movie-review show "Hot Ticket." He is also a regular contributor to Playboy and other periodicals and teaches film at the University of Southern California.
EMX is a gathering for the packaged-media business that comprises the DVD Entertainment Conference, Media-Tech Conference, Entertainment Packaging Summit, Entertainment Asset Management Conference, IDDA Disc Duplicating University Conference and Surround 2004. This year's EMX is expected to attract 120 exhibitors and 3,000 attendees.
Nominees in each of 17 categories for the newly expanded DVD Entertainment Awards will be announced approximately one month prior to the ceremony.
