Inaugural conference, awards planned for L.A.

Billboard and Digital Media Wire have teamed up for the first Billboard Digital Entertainment Conference & Awards, set for Nov. 4-5 in Los Angeles.

Panel topics and speakers for the confab, which is being planned as an annual event, will be announced in coming months.

The awards show will take place Nov. 5 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Honors will be presented in 30 categories, recognizing innovation, entrepreneurship and brand development in digital entertainment. Among the categories are visionary, brand and game innovation of the year; best use of technology by a music label, artist or music marketing campaign; and best radio service, digital music community and video on-demand service.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges representing the digital and entertainment industries, academic institutions and the media. Submissions for entries for the awards will be accepted until Sept. 15 at www.digitalentertainmentawards.com. Finalists will be recognized in a fall issue of Billboard.
