Napster is entering the wireless space via an alliance with Dwango Wireless, a Seattle-based developer of mobile entertainment content.

The two are teaming on a service called "Napster Mobile." Users who purchase ring tones through the service receive credit towards downloads and subscription access redeemable online through Napster.

The service is scheduled to launch in the U.S. and Canada in 2005 with a specially designed Napster interface.

Dwango also provides branded mobile content for Rolling Stone, ESPN and Playboy.
