Fox broadcast draws 4.5 rating.

Ratings decreased dramatically for the 2004 Billboard Music Awards, which Fox aired Dec. 8 from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. According to Nielsen Media Research, the two-hour broadcast drew a 4.5 rating/7 share, or 6.9 million U.S. viewers.

It was the lowest-rated Billboard Music Awards since Nielsen began tracking the show's ratings in 1991. In comparison, the 2003 Billboard Music Awards scored a 6.2 rating/10 share, or 9.8 million U.S. viewers.

The highest-rated Billboard Music Awards remains the 1992 show, which garnered a 9.5/15 share, or 15 million U.S. viewers.
