Sony Music will shed 175 positions in Berlin as a result of the integration with BMG. The merged company in Germany will retain 50 former Sony employees.

Of the employees affected, 52 are to be offered jobs at other Bertelsmann affiliates, sources say. The company declined to comment.

During the summer, the restructuring claimed more than 100 jobs at BMG, and the BMG Berlin domestic unit was shuttered. About 230 former BMG Germany employees were retained.

As previously reported, Sony BMG Germany's international repertoire division will be based in Berlin under former Sony managing director for international Willy Ehmann.
