500,000 tracks now available through service.
Melodeo, a provider of mobile music distribution services for wireless carriers, has expanded its catalog by licensing an additional 200,000 tracks from EMI Music. The deal allows wireless operators in Europe who use the Melodeo service to offer their customers the ability to preview, buy and download the newly-added EMI tracks.
Currently, Melodeo powers the mPlay service from Spanish operator Telefonica Moviles Espana, as well as a service run by Rogers Wireless in Canada.
Tracks covered by the agreement include that from Athlete, Coldplay, Faith Evans, Gorillaz, Norah Jones, Kylie Minogue, Joss Stone and Robbie Williams, as well as EMI Music Spanish artists Amaral, Bebe and Orishas.
In addition to the EMI catalog, Melodeo has existing agreements with Warner Music Group, as well as independent European labels such as Blanco Y Negro, Subterfuge and Divucsa for a total of 500,000 available tracks in its mobile distribution library.
