LOS ANGELES -- Clear Channel Entertainment Television has forged its first DVD distribution deal, with Ventura Entertainment.
A minimum of six CCETV music programs, all filmed on high-definition video, will be released over the next two years. Ventura, an independent video distributor based in Thousand Oaks, Calif., will underwrite the cost of the programs.
Future CCETV DVDs will be culled from Clear Channel's 32,000 annual events, including concerts, theater, comedy, children's and sports productions.
Ventura is expected to announce an additional international distribution partner for the CCETV deal soon. Ventura distributes more than 60 product lines. It also has three special-content units: UrbanWorks focuses on the urban market, StudioWorks on family/pop culture and Studio Latino on the Latino market.
CCE's foray into DVD was first announced in July at the Video Software Dealers Assn. conference in Las Vegas.
