MTV Networks Europe president Brent Hansen has promoted Simon Guild to CEO. Guild was most recently deputy CEO/executive VP.

In his new position, London-based Guild will be responsible for day-to-day management of MTVNE's 47 TV channels and 41 Web sites. Guild continues to report to Hansen.

MTV says in a statement that while Guild will deal with day-to-day management issues, Hansen will "retain oversight of MTVNE" and "will continue to spearhead ... content development across all brands."

MTVN says the move will allow Hansen, who is also president of creative for MTVN International, to devote more time to his international role. In particular, Hansen is tasked with "accelerating the company's original production and development, particularly in the area of digital media."

Hansen continues to report to MTVNI president Bill Roedy.

MTVNE's four regional business heads, who previously reported to Hansen, will now report to Guild. These include U.K., Ireland and Nordic executive VP/managing director Michiel Bakker; central and emerging markets executive VP/MD Catherine Muehlemann; MTVN South executive VP/MD Antonio Campo Dall'Orto; and Benelux senior VP/MD Dan Ligtvoet.

In addition, Nickelodeon Europe VP Katrina Southon and Comedy Networks Europe MD Tony Orsten will report to Guild, along with the company's European joint ventures.

Guild joined MTVNE in 1993 as senior VP, strategy and planning, before being promoted to COO in 1997.
