Major League Baseball Productions has signed two exclusive DVD distribution deals with Shout! Factory and A&E Home Video.

Shout! Factory will now be the official DVD distributor of new MLB Productions content, including the annual World Series film. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, four titles are expected per year.

The first release will be "Dodger Blue: The Championship Years," in stores May 17. The $19.98-priced title celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Dodgers' first World Series championship.

MLB Production's three-year deal with A&E focuses on archive titles. A&E will have exclusive rights to 100 years of World Series films, among other MLB Productions content. A&E, through its home video distribution partner New Video Group, is expected to release at least four titles per year. A&E will also have rights to update existing catalog titles with new special features and soundtracks.

The partnership is expected to include the first domestic release of sets of MLB games on DVD.

MLB is now the first major sports league to license new and archive content to separate distributors.

Previously, its Productions division had a distribution deal with Q Video for all of its DVD releases. Through 2006, it still has a deal with Hart Sharp Video to distribute programs produced for broadcast on the YES Network under the "Yankeeography" banner.
