CEO Primont will take over day-to-day operations.
Aida Gurwicz on Tuesday (May 3) left her long-time post as president of Cherry Lane Music Publishing, Billboard.biz has learned.
CEO Peter Primont says he and Gurwicz held different visions for the future direction of the company. Gurwicz says that she is going to take some time off and plans to be back in the business next year.
Primont will take over the day-to-day responsibilities previously handled by Gurwicz.
Music publishing is the largest division of Cherry Lane Music Group, which includes printed music, magazines and digital media consulting. The publisher has been a leader in developing new business relationships, forming ventures with Electronic Arts (Next Level Music), NASCAR (Motor Music), the Professional Bull Riders Assn. (Cherry Bull Music) and others.
Songwriters under the Cherry Lane umbrella include John Legend, the Black Eyed Peas, West Indian Girl and Fatty Koo.
