Replaces Ken Antonelli who resigned June 2.
Bob Morelli has been named executive VP/GM of Red, replacing Ken Antonelli who resigned as president of the Sony BMG Sales Enterprise Unit on June 2.
In taking on his new responsibilities, Morelli leaves the post of executive VP/GM of Sony BMG Music Entertainment Sales, the distribution company created by last year's merger of Sony Music Distribution and BMG Distribution.
Morelli was named in a 10 A.M. conference call with the Red staff this morning (June 13).
As in his previous role, Morelli will continue to report to Jordan Katz and Bill Frohlich, co-presidents of Sony BMG Sales Enterprise.
In his new role, Morelli will oversee all areas of Red Distribution’s operations, including sales, marketing, new media, field marketing and support services. Reporting to him will be Red’s senior management team that includes senior VP of product development Alan Becker; VP of business and legal affairs Tony Timpano; VP of finance & administration Greg Bell; VP of marketing Laura Marques; VP of field sales Lou Tatulli; and senior VP/GM of Red Ink, Howard Gabriel.
Morelli had been a long-time senior executive of BMG Distribution. Prior to overseeing the merger of BMG Distribution and Sony Music Distribution into Sony BMG Music Entertainment Sales, he was senior VP of marketing and branch operations for BMG Distribution.
Morelli joined BMG in 1985; he has been responsible for overseeing distribution, sales and marketing for a group of third-party labels that included Razor & Tie, V2, Sanctuary, Wind-up Records, ATO Records, Time Bomb, Octone, and Robbins Entertainment, among others. He was also responsible for restarting Wasabi, an independent distribution arm, as well as for running BMG’s Independent Distribution Network. He started his career at Polygram as a sales representative.
