Brit act signs exclusive worldwide pub deal.
EMI Music Publishing has signed hotly-tipped British rock act Arctic Monkeys to a long-term, exclusive worldwide publishing deal.
London-based EMI Music Publishing U.K. senior VP and director of A&R Mike Smith was instrumental in signing the Sheffield, England-based group. "They are certainly one of the hottest acts that the record companies were trying to sign, and that was also true for publishing," Smith comments. "I think they're the best British band we've had in a long time. They are exceptional."
The band is expected to release a debut album early next year through British indie Domino Records, label home to Franz Ferdinand, Four Tet and Pavement. Domino will issue a new single in October.
A summer U.K. tour begins July 27 at the Fibbers venue in York.
