Umbrella authors' rights trade group British Music Rights has named Leslie Hill as chairman, effective September 1. Hill will succeed long-time chairman Sir Alistair Hunter, who will resign from the role in August.

During a 10-year stint with EMI Group, Hill held roles as U.K. managing director of EMI Records, managing director of EMI Music Europe and EMI Group executive director.

London-based Hill has also forged an extensive career in broadcasting, having served as chairman of Central Independent Television and chairman of national British broadcaster ITV Network. He is currently chairman of media services organization the Harthill Partnership.
