Exec replaces Flynn at promotions head.
Australian independent Festival Mushroom Records has lost another high-ranked executive this week.
Frank Varasso, FMR's GM of promotions for the past six years, is leaving the company, Billboard.biz has learned. He will join Sony BMG in October as Melbourne-based director of national promotions and publicity.
In his new role, Varasso will report to Sydney-based John Parker, GM of marketing and promotions. He replaces Mark Flynn, who is taking a break from the music industry.
"Having worked in the music industry for over 15 years, Frank will bring with him extensive experience particularly in promotions and media relations," Sony BMG Australia chairman/CEO Denis Handlin tells Billboard.biz.
News of Varasso's exit follows on the heels of managing director Michael Parisi's announced plans to join Warner Music Australia as director of A&R from January 2006.
