Recording unit placed in administration.

Whitfield Street Studios, the famous London recording facility once owned by Sony Corp, has been placed in administration.

Acquired by current owner music entrepreneur Robin Millar in February 2004 via his company Arts Media, Whitfield Street Studios was on the market from 2002 to 2004 when it was known as Sony Studios.

Chantrey Vellacott DFK, the London-based administration company, says it is looking for a buyer to acquire the financially struggling studio as a going concern.

"The idea is to find a buyer," says William Turner, Chantrey Vellacott DFK's business recovery partner. "It is still trading and the idea is to find someone to make an offer."
