All-star song currently available on iTunes.
Red Eye Distribution has signed Denise Rich's newly-formed 785 Records and the first release will be "Come Together Now," a Katrina benefit single.
The Haw River, N.C.-based distributor will have worldwide digital rights for the single, as well as physical rights for the CD in North America, says Red Eye's A&R director Stephen Judge. The "We Are the World"-type song was written by Rich and actress Sharon Stone, along with producers Damon Sharpe and Mark Feist. The track features vocals from a number of popular musicians, including the Game, Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Joss Stone, Celine Dion and Nick Carter among others.
"Come Together Now" is currently available as a download from Apple's iTunes store, where a video will be sold starting Nov. 1. The single will be released to retailers on Nov. 29 as an enhanced CD. The latter will include a video, and comes with a list price of $4.99. A portion of proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity and other hurricane relief efforts.
Red Eye will also handle merchandise for 785 Records, which will be sold via the label's Web site. Stone is slated to give a public service announcement regarding the single during tonight's (Oct. 25) World Series game.
The song will also appear on a two-disc benefit CD that is being coordinated by Concord Music Group and the Recording Industry Assn. of America.
