Becomes last major studio to release on the format.
Warner Home Video will become the last major studio to release titles on the Universal Media Disc format starting next month.
Its first UMDs—which are only playable on Sony’s PlayStation Portable device—will include “Dukes of Hazzard” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force Volume 4” on Dec. 6 and “Batman Begins,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “House of Wax” and “The Matrix” on Dec. 20.
Since March, more than 300 UMDs have been released or announced, according to the DVD Release Report. To date, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has put out the most UMD titles amongst the studios with more than 50 titles.
