MHD to launch Jan. 16

Mitsubishi Electric has entered into a charter sponsorship with MHD, the new high definition music channel from MTV Networks Music Group. Launching Jan. 16, 2006, the channel will champion a wide variety of musical styles, including hip-hop, rock, pop, country, Latin and R&B. MHD will spotlight original music programming sponsored by Mitsubishi. In addition, the channel will feature HDTV acquisitions and original content from CMT, VH1 and MTV.

As part of its sponsorship arrangement, Mitsubishi technology will figure into the new MHD studio in Vail, Colorado. Also, MHD tune-in promos will be "powered by Mitsubishi Electric" and Mitsubishi will be the title sponsor of such original MHD programming as "MHD Video Stew" and "MHD Top 10." Mitsubishi will additionally make its presence known in MHD TV spots and on MHD programming menus.

Mitsubishi's relationship with MTV Networks began in 2004 when it created the world's largest high definition screen in New York's Times Square for the music/entertainment network.
