Venue set to open in March.
In its first move since being acquired by Kntting Factory Entertainment earlier this week (Billboard.biz, Jan. 30), Bravo Entertainment has signed a multi-year contract to book and promote concerts at the 12th Planet in Billings, Mont.
The 12th Planet is a $12 million entertainment complex set to open in March as a high tech entertainment complex with dining, gaming, shopping, nightlife and name entertainment in it's 1,000-plus capacity room.
“It’s a beautiful room,” Bravo president Paul Thornton tells Billboard.biz. “It will stick out like a sore thumb in Billings. It’s like the nicest places in Vegas.”
The venue boasts top-line production capabilities, including a 60-foot-wide stage, video walls, a Meyer sound system, 48 channel Yamaha DMP5 console, spotlights, and a state of the art moving lights system. As an “all ages” room, 12th Planet has also built an XBOX 360 arcade with station specific LCD screens and surround sound.
Bravo plans to route many artists that currently tour the Northwest, playing the Big Easy Concert Houses in Boise, Idaho, and Spokane, Wash., as well as other comparable size venues from Eastern Washington to the Dakotas, through the Billings market to play the 12th Planet.
Thornton says he hopes to get the 12th Planet to the point where it is hosting eight to 10 national acts monthly. “It’s going to be a work in process for a little bit, like any club in the Northwest and tertiary markets,” he says. “You have to build it in agents’ minds to route through there.”
