Net revenue up 9% in 2005.
Univision Communications reported an increase of 9% in its net revenue for 2005 for a total of $1.95 billion, up from $1.79 billion for 2004. Total income for 2005 was reported as $669.3 million.
The numbers - reported in Univision’s financial results for the fourth quarter and for the year - were positive, despite an investment in Entravision Communications and payments made to Mexican conglomerate Televisa under
Univision’s music operation, the Univision Music Group, reported net revenues of $206.4 million, up from $178.6 million for 2004. The company, which comprises Fonovisa Records, Univision Records and Disa, posted a profit of $31.5 million, up from $23.3 million for 2004. The combined sales of the three labels make Univision Music Group the top selling Latin music company in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
Univision’s financial report, released March 2, comes in the wake of the company’s announcement that it has put itself up for sale. Although there has been speculation about possible buyers, no suitors have been confirmed yet.
