New publishing admin deal covers world.
Warner/Chappell Music U.K. has extended the term of its publishing administration agreement with George Michael and expanded the deal to cover all territories worldwide.
Michael released his first solo single, "Careless Whisper," in 1984 as a member of Wham! It became one of the most-played radio songs of the decade. Five years later, his first solo album "Faith" won a Grammy Award for album of the year and Ivor Novello Awards for songwriter of the year and international hit of the year. "Faith" featured six U.S. No. 1 singles.
Michael's 1990 album, "Listen Without Prejudice: Vol. 1," went to the top of the Official U.K. Albums Chart. His 2004 album, "Patience," reached the No. 1 spot in the United Kingdom. That year, the U.K.-based Phonographic Performance Ltd. honored Michael as the most-played artist on British radio over the past 20 years.
