Ceremony to be held April 19.
The Music Managers Forum's annual Roll of Honour Awards has clinched a sponsor for one of its flagship awards. The ceremony, to be held April 19, will also present a new category.
Telecommunications company Vodafone will sponsor the manager of the year title, which will be revealed at London's Hilton Hotel. The Music Managers Forum, formed in 1992, stages the ceremony before a 600-strong audience of managers and other industry representatives including publishers, promoters, label executives and media.
MMF chairman Jazz Summers says: "Vodafone's involvement shows real commitment to the managers and artists we represent. They recognize that inspired management is pivotal to the new and exciting opportunities afforded by new technology."
In addition, a new Uncut Diamond award category will be given in acknowledgment for managerial talent in black and urban music.
The new award will be presented in association with arts development agency the Arts Council England and with consultancy body Music Matrix. It is being established to recognize the "growing input that managers have on developing raw talent and nurturing it to an industry standard."
The winner will have demonstrated an entrepreneurial flair in the field of black or urban music, in order to receive a bursary from Arts Council England and mentoring from the MMF.
Next week's event will also include the presentation of the U.K. Trade and Investment music export award for managers; the BDO Stoy Hayward producer of the year award; the Robertson Taylor Peter Grant Award, presented for outstanding management; and this year's Inductions to the Roll of Honour itself.
