Claims iPod's infringe Creative patent
Creative Technology, the company behind the Zen line of digital music devices, is suing Apple Computer for patent infringement.
The suit seeks an injunction against Apple for the sale, marketing and importation of the iPod and iPod Nano players in the U.S., as well as unspecified damages.
Last August, Creative was awarded a patent related to how digital music files are stored, organized and accessed on a device. In the suit, filed both in a northern California U.S. District Court and with the U.S. International Trade Commission, Creative claims the iPod infringes on this patent.
The lawsuit is somewhat expected, after Creative CEO Sim Wong Hoo last December boasted the company would "aggressively pursue" the enforcement of the patent.
An Apple spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
