BMG Japan unit folded into Sony BMG Asia.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment is restructuring its Asia operations, folding its BMG Japan unit, a wholly owned subsidiary in the Japanese market, into Sony BMG, Asia.

The move was announced by Sony BMG chief marketing officer/executive VP Tim Prescott, who has been overseeing BMG Japan's operations in the wake of the retirement of BMG Japan president/CEO Hidehiko Tashiro.

As part of the restructuring, Shigenobu Karube and Daniel DiCicco will jointly manage BMG Japan as acting co-general managers. They will report directly to Kelvin Wadsworth, the Hong Kong-based head of the Asia Region, who earlier this month was appointed executive VP and COO for Asia.

In addition, BMG Japan vet Shigenobu Karube has been promoted to executive VP of A&R for BMG Japan, and the head of its domestic artists division.
