Songwriter penned hits for Madonna, Lauper.

Pop songwriter Billy Steinberg has signed an exclusive, worldwide administration deal with Kobalt Music for his music publishing company Jerk Awake.

As part of the new agreement, Steinberg will work closely with Kobalt's U.S. creative team.

Steinberg has penned or co-written such hits as Madonna's "Like a Virgin," Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors," the Bangles' "Eternal Flame", and "I Drove All Night," which has been recorded by Cyndi Lauper, Roy Orbison and Celine Dion.

His song "When It All Falls Apart," recorded by Australian identical twin-sibling act the Veronicas, is currently a domestic hit for Warner Music Australia, and is soon to be released in the U.S. through Sire Records. Steinberg also has material on upcoming records by Jojo, Fefe Dobson, JC Chasez, Katy Perry and Paris Hilton.

"We are thrilled that Billy has chosen Kobalt's unique tools and services as his publishing administration service of choice," commented Willard Ahdritz, CEO and founder of Kobalt, in a statement. Ahdritz added that Steinberg "is such a prolific and versatile songwriter whose songs have sold millions of singles throughout the world. He continues to be in demand by pop stars and upcoming bands."

Until now, Steinberg has been represented by EMI Music Publishing outside north America, and by Jerk Awake/ASCAP in the United States.

Kobalt's clients include Gwen Stefani, Max Martin, Richard Ashcroft, Nine Inch Nails and Tony Kanal.
