Available July 18 via Yahoo! Music.

Beginning July 18, Jessica Simpson fans will be able to purchase a personalized version of Simpson's new single "A Public Affair," containing three customized shout-outs, exclusively at Yahoo! Music.

Other music sites, as well as the artist's Web site (jessicasimpson.com), will begin selling the versions one week later. The suggested retail price is $1.99.

For a personalized "A Public Affair," Simpson fans purchase the song from a list that includes 500 first names. For more unique names, a personalized song will be delivered in a couple weeks. The custom version downloads are compatible on all portable devices.

The concept, dubbed Custom Cuts, was created by Simpson's record label, Epic Records. A label spokesperson says the label was looking for other creative ways to work with Yahoo!, following the success it had with the Shakira "Make Your Own Fan Video" contest. During brainstorming sessions, label executives were searching for concepts that had not been done before. Custom Cuts was born.

Accompanying Simpson's Custom Cuts at Yahoo! is the "Get Your Freak On" platform, which like the Shakira contest, invites fans to send in their homemade videos to "A Public Affair."

"A Public Affair," which ascends the Billboard Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts this week, is the title track from the singer's new album due Aug. 29. Brett Ratner's video for "A Public Affair" debuts July 19 on MTV.
