Billboard.biz has learned that Gabriel Levy, currently head of music for RealNetworks Inc.'s European subscription-based music-discovery venture RealMusic, is leaving London to take up a global role in New York.

From Sept. 15, he will assume duties as GM, label relations, for RealNetworks worldwide.

He will be reporting to Matt Rowlen, RealNetworks' VP of business development.

Levy's new appointment means he will serve as an ambassador between RealNetworks and the international music industry. He will also be involved in coordinating contracts and artist promotions with labels, for existing services such as Rhapsody and new projects.

During his three years in London, Levy was instrumental in the launch of RealMusic and TonePass, the company's subscription-based ringtone service.
