Event set for Nov. 1 at New York’s Rainbow Room.

The Latin Recording Academy will bestow its 2006 Lifetime Achievement and Trustees awards at New York’s Rainbow Room Nov. 1. The awards honor artists and business people who have created a legacy of support for Latin music over many years.

This year’s winners are bossa nova composer/producer Cesar Camargo Mariano, Argentine singer-songwriter León Gieco, salsa vocalist Graciela, Afro-Caribbean twosome Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz, Spanish musical actress Paloma San Basilio, Mexican singer Alberto Vázquez and tropical singer Johnny Ventura.

Colombian folk songwriter Rafael Escalona and Televisa radio and recording label pioneer Alejandro Quintero will receive the Academy’s Trustees Awards.

The Latin Grammys will be broadcast live from Madison Square Garden Nov. 2.
