Distro says Dim Mak, Norton, others join roster.
Digital distributor The Orchard has added four labels to its roster. The aggregator announced today (Sept. 13) that it will handle digital distribution and marketing for Dim Mak, Norton, Cornerstone RAS/Park the Van and Surfdog.
The new signings give The Orchard access to tracks from Pretty Girls Make Graves, Ben Lee, Public Enemy and Brian Setzer, among others. Los Angeles-based Dim Mak specializes in indie rock, and has released albums and singles from the Scanners, Pony Up, Bloc Party, the Von Bondies and more.
New York-based Norton Records takes a garage/rockabilly/punk focus, and has issued releases from Hasil Adkins, Link Wray and the Untamed Youth, among others. Cornerstone RAS/Park the Van is the Southern California label best known for its connection to Sublime, and will bring to The Orchard releases from AWOL, Monsieur Leroc and Dr. Dog, the latter courtesy of its partner Park the Van.
As for Surfdog, the Encintas, Calif.-based label was founded in 1993 by Dave Kaplan, and has counted Setzer, Gary Hoey and the Stray Cats among its roster.
