Move is part of group's plans to expand legal expertise.

PPL, the U.K. royalties-collecting society representing record companies and performers, has appointed Fergus Kemlo to be legal and business affairs executive.

The move, part of the organization’s plans to expand its legal expertise, means Kemlo will be part of the legal team led by Peter Leathem, the PPL’s legal & business affairs and rights negotiation director.

Kemlo, who is based in London, will report to David Harmsworth, senior legal & business affairs executive (who reports to Leathem). The other team members include Sam Moorhouse, also a legal & business affairs executive.

Kemlo’s previous experience includes working with music industry clients and handling rights licensing at London-based legal firms Oury Clark and Gerstern and Nixon.
