Company's television net revenue growth up 14.8%.

Univision Communications, the nation's leading Spanish-language media company, reported net revenue of $536.1 million for the third quarter of 2006, an increase of 7.8% over the same period last year.

The company's television business, led by Univision Networks' broadcast of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, generated net revenue growth of 14.8%.

But despite averaging 33 of the top 100 Latin album titles sold during the third quarter, net music revenue slid to $29.5 million from $50.8 million during the same quarter in 2005.

In its earnings statement, the company attributed the music group's downturn to "underperforming releases, slippage in the release schedule and a continued high level of returns compounded by political and economic factors impacting music sales in the industry."

Sale of Univision Communications to a private investment group is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2007.
