Companies ink licensing deal..
Recall Records has signed a three-year licensing agreement with the Warner Music Group's Rykodisc. Recall, whose releases had already been handled by Rkyo Distribution, will now have access to Rykodisc's marketing, press and sales staff, says Recall's head of marketing Fabien Moreau.
Upcoming Recall releases include a new album from the Police-inspired Grand National, French indie-rockers Le Film and singer/songwriter Thomas Dybdahl. The label also releases soundtracks in conjunction with Luc Besson's EuropaCorp.
Moreau says all new Recall projects will be submitted for approval to Rykodisc. If there is not a fit with Rykodisc, Morreau says there is the potential for an album to be placed elsewhere in the Warner family.
"The A&R prowess of Recall has been always nothing short of stunning," Rykodisc head Jim Cuomo tells Billboard.biz. "The artistic caliber and timeless hipness across all genres of the repertoire makes it consistent with what historically -- and still currently -- makes Rykodisc and the Ryko culture so unique in the musical community."
