Chris Tomlin leads the list of nominees for the 38th Annual Gospel Music Assn. Dove Awards, to be held April 25 at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House. Tomlin earned nine nominations, including nods in the artist and male vocalist categories.

Other top nominees inlcude Jars of Clay, who received six nominations, the Crabb Family, and newcomers Aaron Shust and Leeland, who each garnered five nominations. Leeland and Shust both received nods in the New Artist of the Year category, which also includes DecembeRadio, Ayiesha Woods and Pocket Full of Rocks.

Casting Crowns, Stellar Kart and Israel Houghton earned four nominations. Reigning male vocalist winner Tomlin is nominated again in that category along with Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns' frontman Mark Hall, Mat Kearney, and Shust. Natalie Grant, who captured last year's female vocalist accolade, competes this year against Krystal Meyers, Christy Nockels, Nichole Nordeman and Rebecca St. James.

The Dove Awards will be hosted by Brian Littrell, Natalie Grant and Donnie McClurkin. Comedian Thor Ramsey will host the Dove's opening ceremonies where the awards for the bulk of the 43 categories will be presented. The Doves are voted on by the membership of the GMA.
