The Smashing Pumpkins have confirmed their first North American appearance of 2007 at Toronto's Virgin Festival, set for Sept. 8-9 on Toronto Island.

The band will headline the second evening while Bjork will headline the first night. Other artists confirmed include The Killers, Interpol, Amy Winehouse, Jamie T., Paolo Nutini and Tokyo Police Club.

More than 35 acts will be performing over the two-day event, which premiered last year.

Meanwhile, a Vancouver version of the Virgin Festival is slated for May 20-21 with The Killers, My Chemical Romance, Billy Talent, Metric, Hot Hot Heat and AFI set to perform at Thunderbird Stadium.

The lineup for Virgin Festival's U.S. edition in Baltimore is expected to be announced shortly. Last year's event featured such acts as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Who, the Killers, Flaming Lips and Gnarls Barkley at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course.

As previously reported, the Pumpkins have returned to active duty with a new album due July 7 and a host of European festival appearances.
