Just two months after winning a lengthy libel case, Canadian singer Loreena McKennit has launched another legal battle against her former friend Niema Ash over her self-published book.

Ash, whose last tussle with McKennitt over her book went as far as the House Of Lords before she lost the case (Billboard.biz, April 2), is now facing action in the High Court in London against the new version of the tome, entitled "Travels With Loreena McKennitt -- My Life as a Friend".

McKennitt is asking the court to order Ash and Purple Inc Press to hand over all copies of the new version and also ban Ash from publishing or distributing private information about her. She also seeks damages limited to £50,000. She says the book contains confidential material about her, her publishing company, Hampstead Productions, and her private record label, Quinlan Road.
