EMI Music has hired M. "Parama" Paramasivam away from Microsoft to be its new VP of technology. His role will be to evaluate new technologies and applications that influence the digital music business and recommend new strategies for pursuing them.

Paramasivam arrives at EMI’s London headquarters after 10 years in a number of different roles at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Wash. He now reports to EMI's global head of digital, Barney Wragg.

“The digital music environment is changing all the time, with new players coming into the market with radically different business models and technologies," said Wragg, in a statement. "Parama’s understanding of technology and his excellent commercial experience will be vital to the integration of new and future technologies into EMI Music over the coming years.”
