Britney Spears has parted ways with her manager, the Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz, after little more than a month of working with him.

"It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears," Kwatinetz said in a statement. "We have represented Britney for the past month. We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record. But current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job. We wish Britney the best."

Spears drew a wave of negative reviews for her performance on the recent MTV
Video Music Awards, but, as previously reported, her new single, "Gimme More," is shaping up to be a quick hit at top 40 radio. Her new Jive album is due Nov. 13.

Kwatinetz also ceased working with Kelly Clarkson earlier this summer, in the wake of the latter's reconfigured summer tour.
